Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guards Continue Season
Three Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guard teams traveled to Waskom High School for the Four States Performing Arts Association contest on Saturday, February 28. Mount Pleasant ISD has a Winter Guard team at Wallace Middle School, two at Mount Pleasant Junior High, and three at Mount Pleasant High School, including the Varsity, Gold, and Onyx teams.
The Mount Pleasant High School Varsity placed 2nd in the Scholastic A classification, just .5 from 1st place.
Mount Pleasant High School Onyx placed 2nd in the Regional A classification. Onyx has placed in the top 2 in all four competitions this season.
And Mount Pleasant High School Gold placed 4th in the Scholastic A classification, just .6 behind 3rd place in their first competition in this division after being promoted last week.
The MPHS Winter Guards and the Mount Pleasant Junior Guard will compete at the Four States Performing Arts Association contest on Saturday, March 7 at Texas High in Texarkana. This contest features 32 teams including three collegiate squads. The High School Guards are under the direction of Marty Newman, the Junior Guards are directed by Peyton McClendon, and the Wallace Middle School Winter Guard is under the direction of Gracie McClendon.
