The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger Dolls attended their first competition of the year at the American Dance/Drill Team North Texas Regionals at Rockwall Heath High School on Saturday, February 4. In total, the Dolls brought home seventeen awards.

The Tiger Doll team earned eight awards including a 1st place Best in Class award for being the highest scoring team in the Large division. They earned a 6th place Best of the Best Team award for being the 6th highest scoring team out of all 34 teams at the contest. In addition, they earned a Sweepstakes award, a Gussie Nell Davis award for having a score of 93 or higher on all three team routines, Judge’s awards for lyrical, hip hop, and pom for having a score of 94 or higher on each routine, and a Best Overall Gold award.

The Officer squad brought home seven awards: 1st runner-up Best in Class, a Best Overall Silver award, Sweepstakes, a Gussie Nell Davis award for having a score of 93 or higher on all three officer routines, and Judge’s awards for jazz, lyrical, and hip hop for having a score of 94 or higher on each routine.

Senior and Captain, Chloe Carter, was named a solo finalist and was awarded 5th runner-up out of 48 entries in the large team division solo competition.

In addition, Tiger Doll Director, Jaton Broach, was voted Outstanding Director out of 24 Directors at the competition.

“I’m so proud of these ladies for all of the hard work they have put into our contest season,” said Broach. “They have such a great work ethic, positive attitudes, and a contagious energy. Today was such a fun day! Dolls, I love you and am so proud of you! Forever my ‘gurls.’”

The Tiger Dolls will compete again at the Showtime Texas State Championship at Legacy High School in Mansfield on February 18.
