Mount Pleasant High School Swimmers Advance to Regional Finals
The Mount Pleasant High School Tiger Swim Team competed against 34 teams and 289 individuals at the 4A-5A Regional Swim Meet at the New Caney ISD Natatorium on February 6-7. The Girls team finished 13th and the Boys 16th at the meet with all team members advancing to the finals on day two.
On day one, teams and individuals were attempting to finish in the top 16 in prelims to advance to finals the following day. Individually, junior Sophie Greco advanced to the finals in the 100 yard backstroke and finished 11th out of 24, swimming her season best time. The Boys and Girls 200 medley and 200 free relays all advanced to the finals, with all relays recording their best times of the season during their final heats. Swimming the Womens 200 Medley Relay were Reese Ball, Ava Fite, Greco, and Kate Ball. Swimming the Womens 200 Free Relay were R. Ball, K. Ball, Joseline Hernandez, and Greco. Both the Mens 200 Medley and 200 Free Relays were comprised of Eli Rider, Jack Welborn, Alessandro Greco, and Camdon Johnson.
The team graduates Rider, R. Ball, Johnson, and Welborn and will be looking to add new members for the 2023-2024 season. The MPHS Tiger Swim Team is coached by Jerilyn Goolsby.
