For the second year in a row, Mount Pleasant ISD has been named a Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) District of Distinction. Over 1200 districts were eligible to apply for this award but only 109 earned the distinction, placing MPISD in the top 9% of districts in Texas in art education. The districts received the honor for providing a well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum to inspire creativity and build social emotional learning that connect learners to their community and beyond.

Honorees met or exceeded a rigorous 14-point rubric. The rubric examined the district’s visual art program from participation in TAEA through membership, exhibitions, contests, and community engagement in the visual arts through field experiences, community service, and collaboration with other content areas.

MPISD will be honored at the TAEA District of Distinction Awards Ceremony during the TAEA Fall Conference on Friday, November 13 in Galveston.
