Twenty Mount Pleasant High School students competed at the Texas Public Service Student Association Regional Competition in Burleson January 9. Five of them have qualified for the TPSA state competition April 29-30 in Crowley, Texas.

MPHS students advancing to the TPSSA State Meet are Brandon Brison Firefighter Agility (1st place at Regionals), Laithe Godfrey in Fire Search Maze (1st place at Regionals), David Shrum in Foot Pursuit (2nd place at Regionals), Destiny Barnes in Theme Poster (3rd place at Regionals) and Taylor Phillips in Firefighter Bunker Gear (3rd Place at Regionals).

“All of these students worked hard to get ready for this competition,” said MPHS Criminal Justice teacher and TPSSA sponsor Ricky Chamness. “I am extremely proud of them and what they have accomplished. Brandon and David both advanced to State last year although David did not get to attend. I know Brandon will be a big help to the others as they get ready for the high level of competition they will encounter at the State Meet.”
