Mount Pleasant High School Culinary Arts Students Senior Michael Cortez, Junior Tyrese Milton, and Sophomore Matthew Braudaway competed in Culinary Arts at the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America State Competition and placed fourth. They prepared Braised Chicken, Rice Pilaf and Mixed Vegetable Quesadillas from scratch along with a decadent Chocolate Mousse for dessert.  The judges said their skills shined in knife cutting, preparation and plating.

Freshmen Alicia Bello, Samanta Garcia and Lizbeth Mejia competed in the Junior Division (Freshmen) of the Life Event Planning and were recognized for their efforts in planning a baby shower. For their project, they planned and organized a baby shower, coming up with a theme and invitations and staying within a budget.

“We are so very proud of all of these students,” said FCCLA sponsor Aimee Sweeden.  “They represented Mount Pleasant FCCLA well!”

Other FCCLA sponsors are Chef Jamie Hudman and Margaret Bradley.
