Mount Pleasant High School Art students competed at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) at Pleasant Grove High School on Saturday, February 27. Twelve students earned medals for their art work and two advanced to the state competition.

Andrea Becerra and Diego Lugo will have their art work judged at the State VASE meeting April 22-24 in San Antonio. This is the second year for both to earn medals at VASE and the second year in a row that Becerra has advanced to state.

Also earning medals for the second year in a row are Angel Rodriguez and Desiree Verastegui.

Students earning medals for the first time are Samuel Barrera, Adriana Barrientos, Juan Castanon, Armando Galvan, Cessia Gonzalez, Edith Landaverde, Maddison Weddle and Juan Zuniga.

“All of my art students worked extremely hard and I am proud of all of them,” said MPHS Art teacher Laura Kirkland.  “Most of their art pieces will be displayed in the cases at the front of the school.”
