In compliance with Texas House Bill 1481 relating to the use of personal wireless communication devices by students during instructional time, the Board of Trustees of Mount Pleasant ISD will adopt policies prohibiting students from using them during the school day for the 2025-2026 school year. Students will be required to put away all cell phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches, and any other personal devices for the duration of the school day beginning September 1, 2025, when the bill officially goes into effect.

Per the bill, a “personal wireless communication device” is defined as any wireless electronic communication device capable of transmitting and/or receiving data, including cellular telephones, text messaging devices including watches, laptop computers, and tablet computers. The ban does not apply to a device such as an iPad or laptop computer provided by the school for instructional purposes.
