After a suggestion was received from the community, MPISD school officials recently spoke with the Titus County Fair Association who agreed to rename the Titus County Fair Invitational Cross Country Meet. Beginning in the fall of 2025, the annual run will be called the Mike Fields Invitational Cross Country Meet, honoring longtime MPISD teacher and coach, Mike Fields. Fields began coaching and teaching at Mount Pleasant High School in August of 1972 and is credited with starting the cross country program at MPHS.
