Wallace Middle School & MPJH Close Out Robotics Season
Five MPISD robotics teams representing P.E. Wallace Middle School and Mount Pleasant Junior High competed in the Texas Youth Robotics Alliance (TYRA) VEX IQ competition on Saturday, February 8 at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The competition featured 49 teams from the surrounding area.
At the end of six qualification matches, the top 20 teams advanced to the finals tournament, including one team from Wallace Middle School. Advancing to finals was Wallace 4, the all-girl team of Kezia Williams, Abigale Yoder, Tana Contreras, Allison Castaneda, and Marianna Flores.
Also competing for MPISD were Wallace 1 (Sebastian Sheppard, Braxton Arnold, Carter Cameron), Wallace 2 (Samuel Erickstad, Dalver Jimenez, Joshuah Antonio), Wallace 3 (Thatcher Drange, Hatzael Antolin, Gavin Williams), and MPJH 1 (Aiden Lane, Omar Castaneda, Jimmy Gonzales, Michael Hunter, Krystopher Castro).
The Sulphur Springs meet marked the end of robotics season for Wallace and MPJH. The elementary robotics teams will compete in their final meet of the year on Saturday, February 15 in Texarkana. They are coached by Tara Flores at Wallace Middle School and Mount Pleasant Junior High and Jamie King at the elementary campuses.
