The Mount Pleasant ISD Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Middle Level, grades 5th – 8th, competed online at the State Leadership Conference with five advancing to National level competition later in the summer.
National Qualifiers, their events and their places at state include:
• Mykaela King and Sabrina Otero-Svirska (1st place Community Service Project, Wallace Middle School)
• Luke Thurman (1st place Digital Citizenship, Mount Pleasant Junior High)
• Frankie Rodriguez (1st place Elevator Speech, Mount Pleasant Junior High)
• Cooper Rider (1st place Multimedia Website and Development, Wallace Middle School)
National Alternates include:
Jeffrey Bond (2nd place Business Etiquette, MPJH)
Alba Zeqaj (4th place Business Etiquette, Wallace)
Daniel Kimbrough (2nd place Business Math and Financial Literacy, Wallace)
Carson Bell (3rd place Business Math and Financial Literacy, Wallace)
Xitalay Sanchez (2nd place Career Exploration, MPJH)
Alfredo Santillan (4th place Digital Citizenship, Wallace)
Also placing at the state level were:
Jaden Mendoza (4th place FBLA Facts, Wallace)
Garrett Brown (1st place Computer Slide Show, Wallace)
Luke Thurman (Who’s Who Award)
Mount Pleasant ISD FBLA Middle Level was chartered at Wallace Middle School in the fall of 2018 with the help of Matthew Armstrong, 2018-19 MPHS FBLA President and Texas FBLA Area 6 State Vice-President, along with the MPHS FBLA advisor, John Whitten. Last year the group expanded to include members from Mount Pleasant Junior High under the guidance of Dana Armstrong and Macy Russell.
The National competition will take place virtually this summer.
