Ten Mount Pleasant Junior High School art students recently participated in the annual Peace Poster Contest sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Lion’s Club. The contest was open to students ages 11-13 and the theme for 2026-2027 was “Harmony in Humanity.” At a meeting in early October, thirty pieces from students in Mount Pleasant were on display at Luigi’s for judging by club members. Annalie Mata, an eighth grader from Mount Pleasant Junior High, won the contest and a $100 prize.

Mata’s piece has moved on to the district level where it will be judged again, with the winning piece advancing to the state level. MPJH art is taught by Kacy Rideout.
