All four MPISD Winter Guard teams traveled to Naaman Forest High School in Garland on Saturday, January 21for their first Winter Guard competition of the season at the North Texas Colorguard Association contest. Mount Pleasant ISD has a Winter Guard team at Mount Pleasant Junior High and three at Mount Pleasant High School including the JV B, JV A, and Varsity teams.

Mount Pleasant High School Varsity placed 1st in the National A classification.

Mount Pleasant High School JV A placed 1st out of nine teams in the Scholastic A classification.

“The students had a great first performance,” said MPHS Color Guard Director, Cristian Gomez. “It was great seeing such a positive crowd reaction as each team performed. The students have been working tremendously hard and putting in so many hours to learn and perfect their show since we started in late November. This was a great start to our competition season and I am excited to see how the rest of the season goes.”

All four teams will travel to Frisco next weekend for their next competition. The Mount Pleasant Junior Guard is under the direction of Terri Marchan. The Mount Pleasant High School Colorguard is under the direction of Cristian Gomez.
