The Mount Pleasant Junior Guard attended their second competition of the season on Saturday, March 7. The North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) Cadet and Novice Championships were held at Mansfield High School and featured 14 teams from across North Texas in their division.

The Mount Pleasant Junior High Guard placed 3rd in the cadet novice division with a score of 91.6, improving their score by almost 20 points from the first competition they attended. This is the first time the MPJG has competed in this circuit and at this level of difficulty. Their show titled “Passing Notes” features music from the TV show, Gossip Girl. They are lead by captain Kaira Leija and squad leaders Lolita Solis and Jillian Jetton. 8th grade team members include Zoe Zittel, Jocelyn Marroquin, Karime Leija, Jinnely Padilla, Abby Retana and Alexis Mahoney. 7th grade members include Dori Macedo, Hannah Nichols, Dollian Phan and Jennifer Castro.
