Two Mount Pleasant High School basketball players were recently selected to this year’s Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Academic All-State team. Seniors Brock Cooper and Eliyah Tagg both earned the honor by earning at least a 92 GPA throughout their high school career.

Cooper was a three-year letterman for the Tigers in both basketball and baseball. He was third on the team in three-point makes his junior season earning second team all-district honors and finished second on the team this season in charges taken with 11. Cooper plans to attend Tyler Junior College in the Fall to begin his business degree and play baseball with hopes of transferring to a Division I school after that. He is the son of Kent and Joy Cooper.

Tagg was a one-year letterman for the Tigers after transferring to Mount Pleasant High School his junior year. He shot 86% from the free throw line and 33% from behind the arc during his senior season. Tagg plans to attend Colorado School of Mines next semester to pursue a degree in chemical engineering and be a student assistant for the basketball team. He is the son of Barry and Brandi Tagg.
