Head Coach Joey Chism and staff have released the 2022-23 schedule for the Mount Pleasant Tiger basketball program.
Tickets will once again be available for purchase online.
The Tigers finished last season with a 24-10 overall record, including a 9-3 mark in district play. Mount Pleasant concluded the regular season securing second place in District 15-5A, qualifying for the playoffs for the eighth straight season. The Tigers also advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the third consecutive year knocking off Tyler, Red Oak, and Highland Park and finished with a final ranking of #22 in Class 5A according to MaxPreps.
This year’s schedule features six non-district games along with three tournaments, including participation in the Red River Hoopfest in Texarkana. A revamped District 15-5A schedule will begin on December 20 as the Tigers will travel to Whitehouse to take on the district newcomer.
Mount Pleasant will host 14 games at Willie Williams Gym including the 4th annual TRMC Tiger Town tournament which includes local teams Chapel Hill and Harts Bluff along with 21 other teams from across the state. The Tigers will be on the road for 11 contests as well as traveling to the Mavs Fall Classic November 17-19 and the Allen Holiday Invitational December 27-29.
The Tigers will begin their 2022-2023 campaign on the road November 15 at Henderson, November 17-19 at the Mavs Fall Classic, at Greenville November 26, at Royse City November 29, and at Texas High for the Red River Classic December 3.
Then the Tigers will finally return back to Mount Pleasant for their home opener December 6 versus Bullard, followed by the TRMC Tiger Town Tournament that weekend, and the last tune-up game against Tyler Legacy on December 16.
Over Christmas Break, Mount Pleasant will begin district play at Whitehouse before traveling to the Allen Holiday Invitational. The remaining 13-game district slate will resume on January 3 as the Tigers host Hallsville, last season’s third place finisher.
The remaining District 15-5A matchups at home are as follows: Longview (Jan 13), Marshall (Jan 17 – Military Night), Whitehouse (Jan 24 – Teacher Appreciation Night), Texas High (Jan 31), Pine Tree (Feb 3 – Junior High Night), and Tyler (Feb 14 – Parent Night).
On the road, the remaining schedule has Mount Pleasant set for tough tests against Texas High (Jan 6), Pine Tree (Jan 10), Tyler (Jan 20), Hallsville (Jan 27), Longview (Feb 7), and Marshall (Feb 10).
This year’s playoffs are scheduled to begin February 20-21 and the Tigers will officially begin practice October 26.
