MPHS UIL Advances to Regional Academic Meet
The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Academic team competed in the District 10-5A UIL Academic Meet on March 26, 27, and 31. Overall, 10 MPHS students advanced to the Regional Meet in 8 events with many others placing in their events.

Also placing in their events and alternates to regionals are Raymond Sanchez (4th in Current Events), Jennifer Luna (5th in Copy Editing),
Abril Figueroa (6th in News Writing), Wendy Valdez (4th in Headlines) Brissia Alvarez (5th in Headlines), Angela Ramirez (5th in Persuasive Extemporaneous Speaking), Lia Esguerra (6th in Informative Extemporaneous Speaking), Jordan Krumrie (5th in Literary Criticism), and the team of Jordan Krumrie, Abi Pathak, and Zoei Craig (2nd place team in Lit Crit).
Advancing teams and individuals will compete at the Regional Meet to be held April 24-25 at Walnut Grove High School in Prosper. Those placing in the top 3 in each event will qualify for the State meet in May. Regional qualifying coaches are Gina Crouch (Spelling), Osias Hernandez (Calculator Applications and Mathematics), John Whitten (Journalism), Shelby Criss (Social Studies), and Kim Cox (Ready Writing).
