Thirty-four Mount Pleasant High School seniors were honored at a recognition dinner on Thursday, May 6th. These 34 represent the top 10% of the MPHS Class of 2021. Each student was introduced and given their Honor Graduate cord and tassel. They each also presented a gift to their most influential teacher.
Isabella Greco- Isabella is the 2021 MPHS Valedictorian. She is the daughter of Anthony and Ana Greco. During her time at MPHS, Isabella participated in Speech and Debate, UIL Academics, NHS, FBLA, and the Varsity Golf and Swim Teams. She will attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in biology/pre-med. Isabella honored Angela Priefert, her sophomore English teacher.
Taryn Thurman- Taryn is the 2021 MPHS Salutatorian. She is the daughter of Tris and Stephanie Thurman. While at MPHS, Taryn was a member of FBLA, NHS, Speech and Debate, and Colorguard. She will attend Texas A&M University and major in Business Management. Taryn honored LeAnne Blalock, her AP U.S. History teacher.

Madison Adams- Madison is the daughter of Jason and Amy Adams. Her extracurricular activities included HOSA, FBLA, UIL Academics, NHS, and NTHS. After graduation, Madison plans to attend NTCC to study Education and then transfer to Dallas Baptist University. She honored Kristi Houchin, her Certified Nursing Assistant teacher. |
Megan Adams- Megan is the daughter of Jason and Amy Adams. During her time at MPHS she participated in NHS, NTHS, FBLA, HOSA, UIL Academics, and Varsity Cheer. Megan plans to attend NTCC before transferring to Texas Christian University to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. She honored John Whitten, her journalism coach of three years. |
Jalissa Alvarez- Jalissa is the daughter of Ruben and Urelia Alvarez. While at MPHS, Jalissa was a member of the softball, volleyball, and powerlifting teams, NHS, and an athletic trainer. Jalissa plans to attend NTCC to receive her Pharmacy Tech degree then transfer to The University of Texas at Tyler to pursue a career in the medical field. Jalissa honored Tracey Collier, her English teacher from Corprew Elementary. |
Ashleigh Amerson- Ashleigh is the daughter of Kevin Amerson and Leslie Amerson. She participated in HOSA, NTHS, NHS, and was a Tiger Doll for four years. Upon graduation, Ashleigh plans to attend NTCC to pursue a degree in Nursing. She honored Julie Loveless, her Kindergarten teacher at Annie Sims Elementary. |
Mya Clark- Mya is the daughter of Kristi Clark. She was a member of NHS, an art student for four years, and is the current secretary of the MPHS Fishing Team. Mya plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas and major in Marketing. She honored Dacey Ellington, her 8th grade U.S. History teacher from Harts Bluff. |
Victor Diaz- Victor is the son of Victor Diaz and Marciana Herrera. He participated in Marching Band, Colorguard, UIL academics, NHS, and FBLA. After graduating, Victor plans to attend NTCC for two years and then transfer to Texas A&M-Commerce to pursue a degree in Education. He honored Maryna Otero, his Spanish teacher of the past 4 years. |
Maiko Estrada- Maiko is the son of Jose M. Estrada and Maria Estrada. He was a member of NHS, the NTCC Upward Bound Program, a tuba player in the MPHS Goin’ Gold Band, and is the current Treasurer for HOSA. Upon graduating, Maiko plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler to major in Biochemistry to pursue a degree in the medical field. He honored Angie Ayers, his MPHS Health Science teacher. |
Bryan Flores- Bryan is the son of Zenorino and Santa Flores. During his time at MPHS, he was involved in the Upward Bound Program, Student Council and NHS. Christian Flores- Christian is the son of Zenorino and Santa Flores. He was a member of the cross country and soccer teams, NTHS, NHS, the Upward Bound Program, and serves as this year’s Skills USA President. Christian’s plans are to attend the University of Texas at Arlington Honor’s College and major in Electrical Engineering. He honored Tim Davis, his three-year Electrical Technology teacher. |
Faith Hampton- Faith is the daughter of Robby and Carrie Hampton. She was a member of the track and volleyball teams, UIL Academics, NHS, the art program, and athletic training. After graduation, Faith plans to attend NTCC and then transfer to UNT to major in Journalism and minor in Communications. She honored Carrie Hampton, her mother and 1st through 5th grade teacher. |
Bre’Asia Hargrave- Bre’Asia is the daughter of Brent and Sherry Hargrave. She was a member of the softball team, NTHS, NHS, and the MPHS Cosmetology program. Bre’Asia plans to attend Houston Baptist University to study Biology/Pre-Med to become a Radiation Oncologist. She honored Donna Neal, her 4th grade teacher from E. C. Brice Elementary. |
Anna Harris- Anna is the daughter of Kevin and Felicia Harris. While at MPHS, she was a member of HOSA, NHS, NTHS, UIL Spelling, and Band. Anna plans to attend Southern Nazarene University to obtain a Doctorate in Psychology. She honored Angela Priefert, her sophomore English teacher. |
Kylie Hedge- Kylie is the daughter of Steve and Rebecca Saldivar. She participated in Speech and Debate, UIL Academics, Colorguard, NHS, and FBLA. Kylie’s plans are to attend Texas State University and major in Biology. She honored John Whitten, her FBLA Advisor. |
Peyton Hein – Peyton is the son of Jason and Nikki Hein. He was a participant in NHS, NTHS, Varsity Swim, UIL Journalism and Current Events teams, FBLA, and was the audio tech for the Tiger Doll Spring Show. Peyton plans to attend LeTourneau University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He honored Jack Jones, his Engineering teacher of three years. |
Zaushalynn Lee- Zaushalynn is the daughter of Rodrick and Doneshia Fields. While at MPHS, she was a member of the art program, NHS, the medical assistant program and was this year’s Tiger Basketball Manager. Zaushalynn plans to attend Texas Tech University to major in Microbiology under Pre-Med. She honored Debra Williamson, her elementary school counselor. |
Nataly Morales- Nataly is the daughter of Noemi Chavez and Gonzalo Morales. She has been a member of HOSA, NTHS, NHS, the soccer team and was a Tiger Doll for 2 years. Jasmine Pina- Jasmine is the daughter of Fransisco and Paula Pina. She is a four-year member of the MPHS Goin’ Gold Band. Jasmine plans to attend NTCC then transfer to a four-year university to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice Psychology. She honored Maryna Otero, her Spanish teacher of three years. |
Reid Pinckard- Reid is the son of Ritchie and Amanda Pinckard. He has been a member of the Tiger football team, Speech and Debate, UIL Academics, and is the current NHS President. After graduation, Reid will attend the University of Arkansas and double major in Political Science and Journalism, with plans to attend law school. He honored Gina Crouch, his AP English teacher of two years. |
Sashi Poudel- Sashi is the daughter of Shanbar and Dema Poudel. She has been a member of Colorguard, HOSA, FBLA, Student Council, the UIL Calculator team, NHS, and NTHS. Sashi will attend the University of Texas to major in Biology to become a Physician’s Assistant. She honored Marty Newman, her Colorguard coach of three years. |
McKala Price- McKala is the daughter of Kisha Price. While at MPHS, McKala was on the volleyball team and also participated in club volleyball. After graduation, she will attend Texas State University and major in Kinesiology to become a Physical Therapist. McKala honored Ann Jenkins, her Dual Credit Precal and AP Calculus teacher. |
Alejandra Ramirez- Alejandra is the daughter of Leandro and Marcela Ramirez. During her time at MPHS, she participated in NTHS, FBLA, and NHS. After graduating, Jasper plans to attend Texas State Technical College and earn a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Alex Rogers- Alex is the son of Sonny and Marisa Rogers. Alex has been a participant of HOSA, Student Council, NHS, NTHS, Theatre, and Furrever Friends. He plans on attending Tyler Junior College to study Physical Therapy. Alex honored Kaye Serafin, his Furrever Friends Club sponsor. |
Patricia Roque- Patricia is the daughter of Anselmo Roque and Fidelina Martinez. She has been involved in Colorguard, NHS, NTHS, HOSA, FBLA, and UIL Academics. Eliyah Tagg- Eliyah is the son of Barry and Brandi Tagg. During his time at MPHS, Eliyah was on the varsity basketball team. Outside of school, he has been involved in martial arts for 8 years. He plans to attend the Colorado School of Mines to pursue a career in Chemical Engineering. Eliyah honored Brandi Tagg, his mother and teacher from Kindergarten to 10th grade. |
Karen Trejo- Karen is the daughter of Vicente and Evelyn Trejo. While attending MPHS, she has been a member of Colorguard, Student Council, HOSA, NHS, UIL Academics, and served as a class officer. Karen plans to attend UT Tyler and pursue a degree in Nursing with plans to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Karen honored Marty Newman, her Colorguard coach of three years. |
Jaycee Woods- Jaycee is the daughter of Don and Amanda Woods. She has been involved with HOSA, NHS, UIL Journalism, Volleyball, Powerlifting, and Soccer. Jaycee will attend Louisiana College to play soccer and major in Kinesiology. Jaycee honored Melody Herron, her Volleyball coach of two years. |
Carson Zachry- Carson is the daughter of Chet and Shonda Zachry. She has been a member of the Lady Tiger Softball team. After graduation, she plans to attend Northwestern State University to play softball and pursue a career as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Carson honored Angie Criss, her 11th grade History teacher. |
