MPHS Qualifies Two for the Regional Cross Country Meet
Mount Pleasant High School Cross Country ran in the UIL 10-5A district meet on Thursday, October 10. The Tigers brought home four medals including two regional qualifications, the JV girls district champion, and multiple personal and season best times.
For the Varsity girls, Alexia Hawkins placed 5th and qualified for the regional meet with a time of 20:29. And just on her heels, Mary Beth Snyder placed 6th and qualified for regionals with a time of 21:18. Victoria Salmeron won the JV girls district championship with Emelyn Gaona medaling in 4th place. Also running for the Lady Tigers were Aiyanna Brumfield, Esmeralda Dorantes, and Michelle Garrett.
For the Tigers, Christopher Mendez led the way placing 23rd with a time of 18:10. Carson Dominguez was just behind in 25th with a time of 18:17. Also running for the Tigers were Jayden Mendez, Nerick Moreno, Andy Carrillo, Enrique Marrufo, and Joey Dunn. The JV Tigers were led by Alfred Anderson in 23rd place followed by Rey Munoz, Axavier Anderson, Nico Schmidt, and Jaiden Garcia.
Hawkins and Snyder will run in the UIL Regional meet on October 21-22 at Lynn Creek Park in Arlington. MPHS Cross Country is coached by Jessie Morris and Martina Ramirez.
