MPHS Powerlifting Starts Season Off With a Bang
Tiger and Lady Tiger Powerlifting started their season off in respectable fashion with a 1st place finish for the girls and a 2nd place finish for the boys at Sulphur Springs.
Lady Tigers
-Arlette DeJesus grabbed the top spot in her class, finishing in 1st place with a 495 lb total.
-Jordan West completed her day with a 2nd place finish in her class, totaling 415 lbs.
-Jasmine Landaverde, competing in her first meet ever, took 2nd place overall in her class with a 450 lb total.
-Zoe Zittle, also competing for the first time, finished in 2nd place in her class with a 465 total.
-Audrie Mendoza completed her day in 3rd place in her class with a 395 total.
-Alexandra Martinez grabbed a 2nd place medal in her class with a total of 650 lbs.
-Mariana Gonzalez placed 3rd in her class with a 580 lb total.
-Nayeli Jaimes finished 1st in her class with a 860 lb total, and a 210 lb bench press.
-Jenna Cook placed 2nd in her class totaling 615 lbs.
-McKinsee Oviedo took home 1st in her class totaling 650 lbs.
Tigers
-In the 123 class, David Chavez lifted a total of 770 lbs, good enough to place 2nd .
-In the 165 class, Oscar Otero finished with a total of 735 lbs, good enough for a 1st place finish.
-Elias Elizando began his season by taking 2nd in the 181 class with a total of 1120 lbs.
-In the 198 class, Ryder Marshall had a 3rd place finish totaling 890 lbs.
-Also in the 198 class, Esteban Trejo collected a 4th place finish by totaling 835 lbs.
-In the 220 class, Astin Ledbetter totaled 1125 lbs, good enough for a 3rd place finish.
-Also in the 220 class, Brazos Brown totaled 1110 lbs, finishing 4th.
-Finally in the 220 class, Karson Brown totaled 835 lbs, finishing 5th.
-In the 242 class, Clayton Miller grabbed a 1st place finish with a total of 1045 lbs
-Micah Shepherd took home a 3rd place finish in the 275 class with a total of 1155 lbs.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers look to improve their individual standings in the Regional rankings every week they compete.
The top 12 lifters in every weight class at the end of the regular season will move on to compete in the Regional Championships.
