MPHS Powerlifting Kicks Off Season
Mount Pleasant High School Powerlifting kicked off its season in Lindale on Thursday, January 18. MPHS picked up where they left off from 2023 with the Tigers finishing 2nd as a team and the Lady Tigers finishing 3rd overall. The Tigers claimed ten individual medals and the Lady Tigers brought home seven including four 1st place finishes with numerous personal bests.
For the Tigers, Blake Broach and Devon Burtness placed 1st in their respective weight classes. Jose Gonzalez and Clayton Miller earned 2nd place medals in their weight classes. Ryder Marshall was 3rd in his weight class. Alejandro Castro, Nathaniel Cates, and Seth Robertson all won 4th place medals for their weight classes. Rounding out the medals were Daniel Castillo and Bruno DeLeon in 5th place in their respective weight classes. Finally, Karson Brown came in 7th in his weight class.
For the Lady Tigers, Xitlaly Sanchez and McKinsee Oviedo both placed 1st in their respective weight classes. Karen Hernandez and Valerie Colocho both earned 2nd place medals in their weight classes. Placing 4th were Jasmine Landaverde and Dori Macedo. And rounding out the medals for the Lady Tigers was Brianne Davis in 5th place in her weight class. Also competing for the Lady Tigers were Jordan West with a 7th place finish, Monserrat Gonzalez placing 9th, and Mea Banda in 10th place in their respective weight classes.
Tiger Powerlifting is coached by Blake Lodes and the Lady Tigers are coached by Don Woods.
