The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Math and Science teams hosted and competed at the Mount Pleasant Texas Math and Science Coaches Association meet on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Overall, MPHS earned 2nd place Sweepstakes in the large school division and also claimed 1st place as a team in Calculator Applications and in Mathematics.
Individual results are as follows:
Calculator Applications (1st place team)
• 10th grade: Devin Castaneda 1st, Param Poudel 3rd, Isaac Hernandez 4th
• 11th grade: Jackelin Gomez 4th, Mary Kait Hereen 6th
• 12th grade: Miguel Segura 1st
Overall: Miguel Segura 1st, Devin Castaneda 2nd
Mathematics (1st place team)
• 10th grade: Devin Castaneda 1st, Perla Guzman 5th, Ethan Harbour 5th
• 11th grade: Mary Kait Hereen 2nd, Jonathan Tepetate 4th
• 12th grade: Miguel Segura 1st
Overall: Miguel Segura 1st, Devin Castaneda 5th, Mary Kait Hereen 6th
Number Sense (3rd place team)
• 10th grade: Ethan Harbour 4th
• 11th grade: Lainy Blackstone 6th
• 12th grade: Miguel Segura 5th
Science (4th place team)
• 10th grade: Ethan Harbour 2nd, Natalie Crockett 6th
• 11th grade: Jessie Parchman 5th
MPHS UIL Math and Science will travel to Pine Tree on October 31. The MPHS math and science teams are coached by Osias Hernandez and Larry Russell.
