MPHS FFA Students Advance to Area LDE Contest
The Mount Pleasant High School chapter of FFA competed at the Paris District Leadership Development Event (LDE) held at Paris High School on Friday, November 7. MPHS has advanced nine members to the Area contest in six events.
Senior Gunner Rodgers placed 1st and advanced to Area in Job Interview. In this competition, each member submits their resume, completes a job application for an agricultural position on site and participates in an interview via telephone, in person one-on-one and with a panel of possible employers.
In Creed Speaking, four members have advanced to Area. Junior Rebecca Dunn placed 1st in Senior Creed, junior Kaelyn Carrillo placed 3rd in Senior Spanish Creed, freshman Emy Chappell placed 2nd in Greenhand Creed, and freshman Elia Bonilla placed 2nd in Greenhand Spanish Creed. In this event, members present the FFA Creed from memory and answer questions about its meaning and purpose.
The Senior Quiz Team of Bowdrie Priefert, Mary Beth Snyder, Elaine Kartley, and Declan O’Quinn placed 2nd and advanced to Area. This event is an exam testing team members’ understanding of the FFA, agricultural education, current agricultural events and parliamentary procedure is given.
Also competing for MPHS FFA were the Ag Advocacy team of Karlee Rodgers, Gunner Rodgers, and Ashley O’Brien that placed fourth. And the Greenhand Quiz Team of Aiden Lane, Jalyssa Duenez, Emy Chappell, and Elia Bonilla placed eighth.
The Area competition will be held in Marshall at Texas State Technical College on November 19. The Advisor for Job Interview, both Senior and Greenhand Spanish Creed, and Ag Advocacy is Susie Hearron. The Advisor for Senior Quiz, Senior Creed, Greenhand Creed, and Greenhand Quiz is Nick Riecke.
