Twenty-eight Mount Pleasant High School Choir members participated in All-Region auditions at Sulphur Springs High School on October 15 with twenty earning places in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-Region Choir and three more selected as alternates. To earn a place in the choir, each singer had to sing four selections and sight read before a panel of five judges, not an easy task for a high school student.

Those selected include Axavier Anderson (2nd Bass, chair 5), Airyana Beckham (1st Soprano, chair 12), Itzel Bello (1st Soprano, chair 1), Liliana Cruz (1st Soprano, chair 10), Maleah Duenez (1st Alto, chair 11), Aaliyah Gholston (2nd Alto, chair 10), Alexandra Hernandez (1st Soprano, chair 9), Dawson Hernandez (2nd Tenor, chair 7), Emileigh Hobbs (2nd Alto, 4th chair), Daniel Kimbrough (2nd Bass, chair 4), Trista Madrid (1st Soprano, chair 7), Mattie Merriman (2nd Soprano, chair 4), Alivia Newman (2nd Alto, chair 2), Peyton Robinson (2nd Alto, chair 7), Hector Sierra-Rosales (2nd Bass, chair 6), Kristina Tidwell (2nd Soprano, chair 2), Sara Vanhoose (2nd Alto, chair 3), Dakota Williams (2nd Tenor, chair 6), Madison Zepeda (2nd Alto, chair 8), and Grace Zittel (2nd Alto, chair 9). Alternates include Bruno Deleon, (1st Bass, 2nd alternate), Joey Dunn (1st Bass, 1st alternate), and Elizabeth Liera (2nd Soprano, 1st alternate).

The students who have been selected for the All–Region Choir have advanced to Pre-Area auditions on November 19, which is the next level of competition. The annual All-Region Clinic and Concert will be held on Monday, October 28 with the concert beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Carthage High School auditorium.

The MPHS Choir is directed by Nancy Vines and assisted by Joshua Miles with accompaniment provided by Deanna Warren.
