The MPHS Ag Mechanics and Engineering classes recently collaborated to build a project for the MPISD Administration Building. The students were tasked with creating a wall hanging depicting the MPISD logo.

Engineering students drew the MPISD logo using Computer-Aided Design (CAD), a way to digitally create 2D drawings and 3D models of real-world products before they’re ever manufactured. The engineering students modified the design to cut properly and set it up in the plasma cutter computer. The Ag Mechanics students set the metal up on the plasma cutter, processed the file (cut it out with the machine), then finished the job by cleaning the slag off the cuts before the sign was powder coated by Diamond C.

The students were advised and guided by Engineering teacher, Jack Jones, and Ag Mechanics teacher, Rance White.
