All six Mount Pleasant ISD Winter Guard teams competed at the Four States Performing Arts Association contest on Saturday, February 21, hosted at Mount Pleasant High School. Mount Pleasant ISD has a Winter Guard team at Wallace Middle School, two at Mount Pleasant Junior High, and three at Mount Pleasant High School, including the Varsity, Gold, and Onyx teams.

In their second competition of the season, the Junior Guard from Mount Pleasant Junior High won the Cadet division for the second time. The JV Junior Guard, also from Mount Pleasant Junior High, placed 3rd in the Cadet division. And the Wallace Middle School Guard, the youngest team in the competition, placed 7th.

Mount Pleasant High School Gold placed 2nd in their round in the Regional A classification. Their score was high enough to promote them up to the next classification, pitting them against Varsity teams including the MPHS Varsity.

Mount Pleasant High School Onyx also placed 2nd in their round of the Regional A classification, their second time to compete in that division after being moved up from Novice.

Finally, the Mount Pleasant High School Varsity placed 3rd in the Scholastic A classification. A mere .04 separated 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

In addition, MPISD Guard members competed with solos and ensembles. In the Youth Duet (6th-8th grades) division, Grecia Molina and Jaretzy Villeda took 1st place honors followed by Leeanna Garrett and Kaylee Delacruz in 2nd place, and Kiara Bishop and Janiah Mojica in 3rd. In round 2 of the Youth Solo (6th-8th grades) competitions, Florencia Moreno placed 1st, Nicholai Crabtree 2nd, Esmeralda Guerrero 3rd, and Kaitlenn Washington 4th. In round 1 of Youth solos, Kenly Moreno placed 2nd, Grecia Molina 3rd, and Cattaliah Rodriguez 4th. Finally, in round 1 of the Senior II Solos (12th grade), Esmeralda Perez placed 2nd and Sofia Estrada came in 4th. And in round 2 of Senior II Solos, Aaliyah Gholston placed 2nd followed by Andrea Garcia 3rd, and Valeria Bello 4th.

The MPISD Winter Guards will participate in two competitions on Saturday, February 28, at Paul Pewitt High School in the morning then at Waskom in the afternoon. The High School Guards are under the direction of Marty Newman, the Junior Guards are directed by Peyton McClendon, and the Wallace Middle School Winter Guard is under the direction of Gracie McClendon.
