Mount Pleasant ISD Winter Guards Close Out Regular Season
Five Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guard teams traveled to Texas High School for the final regular season Four States Performing Arts Association contest on Saturday, March 7. Mount Pleasant ISD has a Winter Guard team at Wallace Middle School, two at Mount Pleasant Junior High, and three at Mount Pleasant High School, including the Varsity, Gold, and Onyx teams.
The Mount Pleasant Junior Guard placed 1st again in the Cadet division. The Junior Guard has won their division in all three contests they have attended this season.
The JV Junior Guard placed 3rd in their division and has placed in the top three at all three competitions they have attended.
Mount Pleasant High School Onyx placed 1st in the Regional A classification, their second win this season. Onyx has placed in the top two in all five competitions this season.
The Mount Pleasant High School Varsity Guard placed 2nd in the Scholastic A classification and has placed in the top three all season.
And Mount Pleasant High School Gold placed 5th in the Scholastic A classification after being promoted into a division featuring Varsity squads.
All six MPISD Winter Guards will participate in their final competition of the season at the FSPAA Championships on Saturday, March 28 at Hallsville High School. This contest features 43 teams including two collegiate squads. The High School Guards are under the direction of Marty Newman, the Junior Guards are directed by Peyton McClendon, and the Wallace Middle School Winter Guard is under the direction of Gracie McClendon.
