The Tiger and Lady Tiger golf teams have ratcheted up tournament play over the past week with both teams competing in tournaments to fine tune their swings for the district meet coming up in a couple of weeks. On March 3, the JV boys competed at the Pine Tree tournament held at Wood Hollow in Longview finishing in third place. Clayton Brison finished with a team best 88, Jacob Elliott followed with a 90, Micah Tucker shot a 99, and Matthew Tucker turned in a 101.

The Varsity boys competed in the Twisted 54 tournament, a two-day 54-hole match held on March 5-6 at Wood Hollow and Tempest golf courses. The team achieved a third-place finish which was the best finish ever at this grueling tournament. Matthew Peterson finished with a score of 226, an 18-hole average of 75. Brady Sisk finished second on the team with a score of 234 while George Burrows posted 236. Kade Strickland finished at 251 and Sam Sloan rounded out the team scoring at 266.

Both girls and boys competed on March 8 at the Sabine tournament held once again at the Tempest Golf Club. The girls team placed second with Lady Tiger golfer Grelyn Goolsby finishing third overall turning in a 91. Reese Ball finished with a 99 along with Sophie Greco and Isabella Greco at 103 and 104, respectively. The boys’ team were tournament champions with George Burrows mustering a second-place finish with a scorecard of 79. Jackson Stone and Brady Sisk finished well with scores of 84 and 87. Sam Sloan finished at 91, Clayton Brison 92, and Jacob Elliott rounded out the team scoring at 97.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will have one more tournament on March 22 at the Tempest Golf Club before the district tournament held March 29-30 for boys and March 31 and April 1 for the girls on the same course. JV district will be held on March 24 at Wood Hollow. The Tigers and Lady Tigers are coached by Benny Blaser.
