The Mount Pleasant Lady Tiger basketball team tipped off their season on the road with a convincing victory over the Prairiland Patriots on Tuesday night. The Lady Tigers are looking to win the district title outright this season after securing a three-way tie for district champions last year with Hallsville and Sulphur Springs.

Mount Pleasant opened the game on a 20-2 run as their relentless full court pressure turned the Patriots over multiple times. By halftime, the Lady Tiger lead had ballooned to 37-11 and maintained that pace the rest of the way as Prairiland was never able to put together a double-digit scoring quarter. Jordyn Hargrave led all scorers with 24 points on 11 of 15 shooting from the floor. Paris Beard followed up with 15 points to go along with a team high 7 steals. Ella Cross also scored in double figures with 10 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Other scorers were Aziyah Farrier 8 points, Amiah Thornton 6 points, Citreauna Keeton 3 points, Conlee Zachry 3 points, and Kendall Walker 2 points. Thornton led the Lady Tigers on the boards with 10 rebounds and Farrier controlled the paint with 4 blocks.

The Lady Tigers will play their home opener this Saturday at Willie Williams Gym with the JV set to tip at noon and the Varsity at 1 PM.
