All three seniors on the Lady Tiger softball team were named to the Texas Girls’ Coaches Association Academic All-State team this past week. To earn the honor, a student athlete must maintain at least a cumulative 92 GPA throughout their high school career. Bre’Asia Hargrave, Carson Zachry, and Jalissa Alvarez all earned the recognition.

Hargrave was the Lady Tigers’ ace on the mound and finished in the top 10% in her graduating class. She plans to attend Houston Baptist University in the Fall and to pursue a Pre-Med degree with hopes of becoming a Radiation Oncologist.

Zachry was the captain of in the field for the Lady Tigers and also finished in the top 10% of her class. She has signed an athletic scholarship to continue playing softball at Northwestern State University where she will pursue a degree in Biology. She plans on becoming a Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Alvarez anchored the outfield for Mount Pleasant and finished in the top 10% of her class as well. She plans to attend NTCC to get her associate degree in Pharmacy Tech and then transfer to UT Tyler to pursue a degree in Medicine.
