Sophie Greco had one of her best meets of the season last weekend as the Tiger Swim team traveled to Texarkana to compete in the Magnolia Texas vs Arkansas Challenge held at the Texas ISD Aquatic Center. Greco finished second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 50-yard freestyle to take home two medals on the day.
Several other Tiger and Lady Tiger swimmers finished the top ten in their individual events. Reese Ball finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke and seventh in the 100-yard freestyle while Grelyn Goolsby placed ninth in the 50-yard freestyle. Kate Ball also finished in the top ten in both the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle with an eighth and tenth place finish, respectively. Jacob Elliott finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle as Jack Welborn finished just behind him in eighth place. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Welborn edged Elliott with an eighth-place finish with Elliott one place behind in ninth.
The relay teams also fared well with the Lady Tiger team of Reese Ball, Kate Ball, Goolsby, and Greco finishing in fourth place in both the 200-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle. The Tiger relay team of Hugo Bernardi, Sam Brown, Elliott, and Welborn posted a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley.
Mount Pleasant will continue to work towards shaving seconds off their times as they look to compete in their next meet back at Texas High in the TISCA Invitational November 19-20.
