The Mount Pleasant swim team began their fall season last week competing in the Grace Fall Invitational held in Tyler. The Tigers and Lady Tigers showed a good start to the season finishing in the middle of the pack individually and as a team in 5th place out of 14 teams.
The Tiger team consisted of Hugo Bernardi, Jacob Elliott, Elijah Rider, and Jack Welborn. In the 200m Medley and 200m Freestyle relays, the team finished 5th and 6th respectively. On the individual side, Jacob Elliott placed 6th overall in the 50m Freestyle while Jack Welborn placed 8th in both the 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke. Overall, the team finished 6th out of 12 teams.
The Lady Tiger team members were Reese Ball, Kate Ball, Grelyn Goolsby, and Sophie Greco. Their team finished 3rd in the 200m Freestyle and 4th in the 200m Medley Relays. Greco placed 4th in both the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke. Overall, the girls finished in 5th out of 10 teams on the day.
The swim team will continue to improve their speed and stamina as they prepare for their next meet on November 6 in Texarkana. Mount Pleasant Swim is coached by Jerilyn Goolsby.
