The faculty recently selected seniors Adan Torres and Pilar Gonzalez as the 2026-2027 All-School Boy and Girl. Each year the high school staff selects a senior boy and senior girl who represent the ideals and standards of MPHS. This honor is considered the highest a senior can receive because it is voted on by the staff.

Torres, 17, is the son of Eddie and Maribel Torres. He is a member of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Council, NTHS Treasurer and a two-year Tiger Doll escort. His hobbies include drawing, dancing and he likes working. His future plans are to attend Texas A&M University and earn a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

Upon being honored, Torres said, “It feels really amazing that I am voted for this honor. It shows how much I am appreciated and gives me strength to continue working hard.” His role model is his father and his favorite food is tacos. His favorite class is English because he likes learning about books, some history and enhancing my imagination is very interesting.

Gonzalez, 17, is the daughter of Liliana Mata and Jose Gonzalez. She has been a four-year member of Tiger Dolls and currently serves as 1st Lieutenant, three-year member of FBLA and two-year member of NHS and serves as a FCA student leader.

Her hobbies include dancing and going out with friends. She plans to attend a four-year university with a major in psychology and hopes to become a school counselor.

Gonzalez was honored to be chosen by the MPHS faculty and staff. “Being recognized by my teachers to become all school girl make me feel really honored and proud. It means a lot knowing that they notice my hard work and the kind person I strive to be,” Gonzalez said. Pilar’s role model is her mom because “no matter what, she never hesitates to sacrifice things to put me and my brother first.” Her favorite food is quesabirrias from Restaurant Mexico and favorite class is History. She finds History interesting and learning about the past and how it’s affected us now.

Gonzalez added that 1st Corinthians 10:31 is important to her because it reads “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
