Even though the Mount Pleasant Tiger baseball team didn’t have the season they hoped for, several Tigers still earned recognition for their performance on the field.
Senior Logan Dunn, an NTCC signee, garnered 1st Team All-District Infielder honors by cranking a team-high 3 home runs and knocking in 13 runs. He also posted a .908 fielding percentage captaining the infield at the shortstop position. Senior Brock Cooper also was awarded 1st Team All-District as a utility player. Cooper, who is heading to TJC next semester, did it all leading the Tigers in walks (19) while posting the second best on-base percentage at .443. He also appeared in 10 games on the mound, including two starts, notching 26 strikeouts with a 2-1 record and 3.55 earned run average.
Second Team All-District 1st Base honors went to senior Jerrius Vickers. Vickers led the Tigers in most hitting categories with a slash line of .320/.485/.440 while also anchoring the rotation with a 2.08 earned run average on the bump.
Three returning Tigers earned Honorable Mention All-District. Junior Layne Pinckard mostly played behind the plate and finished the season with 13 hits including a team-high 2 triples. Junior Evan Grissom also won the award posting one of the highest quality at bat percentages at 44.4%. The third honoree was freshman Drew Dyke. Dyke started five games on the mound for the Tigers matching a team-high with 28 strikeouts and a team-best 2.05 earned run average.
