Wallace Middle School Places in Robotics Competition
Five MPISD robotics teams representing P.E. Wallace Middle School and Brice Elementary School competed in the TYRA SSMS VEX IQ Robotics Competition on Saturday, December 7 at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The competition featured 30 teams from the surrounding area. In the VEX IQ competition, teams of students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. This year’s challenge involves driving the robot to pick up a ball, passing the ball to their partner team, and shooting the ball into a net for points. At the end of the qualification matches, Wallace Team 1 and Wallace Team 3 advanced to the final round.
Wallace Team 1 finished the competition in in 7th place overall. Team members included Jake Jones, Braxton Arnold, Hatzael Antolin, and David Adame.
Wallace Team 3 finished 14th overall. Team members were Carter Cameron, Thatcher Drange, Shane Dimon, and Kolton Heeren.
The MPISD Robotics teams will resume competing after the holidays. They are coached by Tara Flores, Jack Jones, and Jamie King.
