Twelve Mount Pleasant High School Tiger football team members will attend the Lineman Challenge State Championships on June 25 in Abilene after qualifying earlier this month.

Team members have attended two Lineman Challenge events this summer competing against linemen from other schools in various challenges such as bench press reps, tractor tire flip, and sled pushes. The Tigers earned 2nd place in Grand Saline and a 5th place finish in Melissa. Teams qualify for state by placing in the top 6 in one of the 3 state qualifying events. Only 18 teams from across the state of Texas qualify for the State Championships.

Team members attending the State Championship include Johnathan Amieva, Brazos Brown, Devon Burtness, Deandre Galloway, Raul Garcia, Ryder Marshall, Clayton Miller, Samuel Morua, Adrian Perez, Ricky Sampson, Micah Shepard, and Baron Stephens. They are coached by Malik Babaa, Erwin Barnard, and Don Woods. The MPISD Athletic Director is Joe Cluley.
