Mount Pleasant senior baseball player Brock Cooper signed a letter of intent on Thursday in front of family, friends, teammates, and coaches to join up with Tyler Junior College next season. Cooper was a stalwart on the mound for the Tigers making a team-high 10 appearances, many of which saw Cooper enter the game with runners in scoring position and the Tigers in a jam. He amassed a 3.54 ERA and a 2-1 record last season. He was also a force at the plate finishing second on the team in hits with 13 and leading the team in walks with 19 boosting his on base percentage to .443.

Cooper will join an Apache squad that finished their season with a 36-15 record just missing a bid to the national tournament after a loss in the district championship and finishing ranked #3 in the nation in Division III. “The reason I chose TJC to continue my playing career is the way Coach Wren runs his program, ” said Cooper. “My success at MPHS has made want to continue to be a part of a championship program and I think that will help me transfer to another strong program in a couple years.” Cooper was a multi-sport athlete as a member of the Tiger basketball team as well. “My time as an athlete at MPHS has taught me the importance of positive energy and how to be a great teammate. I look to carry that on in my future after high school and I think that’s really going to help me be successful, ” continued Cooper.
