The Corprew Elementary School campus-wide enrichment program – The Genius Hour – held their first showcase of the year on Tuesday, November 3.  Parents and family members attended to watch student performances and to look at displays that documented the work students and teachers had done for the past 9 weeks.

The Corprew Genius Hour is unique in that the groups that meet are multi-grade level. Students select topics that interest them and they are placed in those groups regardless of grade.

Teachers who have an interest and expertise in a specific subject volunteer to lead the 9-week sessions. This past nine weeks groups ranged from cooking to sewing, from news reporting to recycling, from gardening to etiquette, from scrapbooking to paper art, from photography to soccer. Students also explored cheerleading and stomp, sign language, and public speaking, to name just a few.

Family members who attended the showcase had the opportunity to see what their students had learned about the subject.

A whole new set of topics will be introduced for the next 9-weeks. Students will be able to explore four unique areas during the school year.
