The Annual Annie Sims Elementary School Chess tournament was held after school on Tuesday April 25th. A total of eight students out of more than 25 chess players qualified for this event by playing other players during the school year.

The tournament was judged and supervised by Jason Moss of Communities in Schools and Annie Sims Chess Coach who taught and worked with all chess players throughout the school year. Third grader Matthew St. John took 1st place at the tournament. Fourth Grader Luis Salinas placed 2nd, 4th grader Jonathan Dalby placed 3rd and 4th grader Gabriela Garza placed 4th.

“We could not be prouder of all of our chess players and all of our parents for supporting them,” said Moss.

The Annie Sims Elementary School Chess Club meets from October to April after school twice a week.  This is the Club’s 10th year.
