It was unknown if students of MPISD were affected. Upon hearing the news, Karla and Shonda immediately headed that direction. They knew several students lived in the area and might need assistance. In fact, several were impacted with the loss of a home by fire or displaced due to smoke damage. Karla and Shonda located the students, ensured they were safe, obtained clothing sizes, assessed other family needs, and confirmed they had a place to sleep. They also followed up on the students after the event.
