{"id":8686,"date":"2022-09-27T11:36:18","date_gmt":"2022-09-27T16:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/?p=8686"},"modified":"2022-09-27T11:36:18","modified_gmt":"2022-09-27T16:36:18","slug":"tiger-xc-finish-2nd-jv-girls-1st-at-pine-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/tiger-xc-finish-2nd-jv-girls-1st-at-pine-tree\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiger XC Finish 2nd, JV Girls 1st at Pine Tree"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Mount Pleasant cross-country teams competed in the Mike Darby Invitational at Pine Tree last weekend bringing home more hardware for the fourth straight meet.\u00a0 The varsity boys finished in second place with two top ten individual finishers and the JV girls took the championship with three top ten finishers.<\/h3>\n<h3>Lee Davis continues to pace the Tigers finishing 7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0overall with a time of 16:53 in the 5000-meter run.\u00a0 Geovanni Calderon placed 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0overall posting a 17:06.1 time and Christopher Escobar placed 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0at 17:36.5.\u00a0 Other finishers were Gilberth Landaverde (30<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 17:57.3) and Enrique Marrufo (34<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 18:04.1). Mount Pleasant finished second to Eustace but in front of district foes Pine Tree, Longview, Hallsville, Whitehouse, Texas High, and Tyler.<\/h3>\n<h3>The JV boys took 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place with Aidyn Botello finishing 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0overall at 18:41.\u00a0 David Buendia finished in 19<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0at 19:59.2.\u00a0 Other finishers were Andrew Gonzalez (79<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 21:39.1), Saul Alvarado (87<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 21:56.1), Gabriel Garza (125<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 23:11.6), Axel Contreras (126<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 23:13.2), Noah Trimm (192<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 26:15), Joey Dunn (195<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 26:27.3), and Skylar Guereca (198<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 26:37.8).<\/h3>\n<h3>Briana Gonzales led the way for the JV girls finishing in 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0place with a time of 14:42.2 along with Marlyne Mendez in 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place with a time of 14:51.\u00a0 Lizbeth Alvarez notched an 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0place finish crossing the line at 15:00.9.\u00a0 Other finishers were Abigail Retana (12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 15:30.6), Karen Hernandez (16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 15:37.8), Jennifer Luna (37<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 16:31.6), Jasmine Landaverde (40<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 16:34.9), Atalee Gonzalez (105<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 18:33.2), Audrie Mendoza (111<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 18:41.5), and Leilani Jimenez (132<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; 19:27.5).<\/h3>\n<h3>Both teams will compete in Sulphur Springs this weekend before returning home for the Titus County Fair Invitational at Sam Parker Field on October 1.<\/p>\n<p>By Drew Barkley<\/h3>\n<div>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mount Pleasant cross-country teams competed in the Mike Darby Invitational at Pine Tree last weekend bringing home more hardware for the fourth straight meet.\u00a0 The varsity boys finished in second place with two top ten individual finishers and the JV girls took the championship with three top ten finishers.
