Students of the MPISD High School Art department, and their teacher Mrs. Laura Kirkland, enjoyed a field trip experience Friday in down town Mount Pleasant, Texas<\/h4>\n

Students took a bus ride to meet with Artist David Freeman, and Mount Pleasant\u2019s Main Street Board President, Sheila Johnson.<\/h4>\n

The students took a stroll down main street to 120 N. Madison Avenue to see the new mural that resembles a wall from the 1800\u2019s including hand-painted windows, stucco, brick and a \u201cghost sign\u201d that features the original courthouse of Titus County.The mural is painted by artist David Freeman.<\/h4>\n

Students were given an up close & personal look at how the \u201cPrinciples of Design”are integrated throughout this expansive work of art.<\/h4>\n

The two spoke with students about the importance of historic preservation and the many aspects of architecture & structural design, incorporated into this process.<\/h4>\n

Students were then taken on a tour through the newly renovated building owned by Mr. O.C Ross. The building is the home of Smarty \u201cCreative Studio.\u201d<\/h4>\n

During the tour, Main Street Board President: Sheila Johnson spoke with Students about the many aspects of structural & architectural design, necessary to preserve the rich history, and timeless beauty of the buildings in historic downtown Mount Pleasant.<\/h4>\n

Students also toured the beautifully renovated \u201cSeasons Venue\u201d located at 114 West 2nd Street. Both of these beautiful buildings are located on the historic downtown square in Mount Pleasant, Texas.<\/h4>\n
