The Mount Pleasant swim team not only succeeds in the water but also in the classroom as they had three of their swimmers make the Academic All-State team for the 2021-2022 season. To qualify, student athletes must maintain at least 3.75 GPA as a junior or senior.<\/h3>\n

Gaining recognition was senior Hugo Bernardi and juniors Jack Welborn and Reese Ball. Bernardi, a first-year competitor, swam in four events including the 50-yd freestyle, 100-yd freestyle, 200-yd medley relay, and the 200-yd freestyle relay advancing to regionals in both relays. He plans to attend Texas A&M Commerce in the Fall, then transfer to Texas A&M College Station. Welborn, in his third year of competition, competed in both aforementioned relays as well as the 50-yd freestyle and 100-yd breaststroke where he placed 8th in district. Ball, also in her third year, advanced to regionals in both relays and competed in the 100-yd freestyle and notched a fourth place district finish in the 100-yd backstroke.<\/h3>\n

The Tiger and Lady Tiger swim teams are coached by Jerilyn Goolsby.<\/p>\n
