The Mount Pleasant High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter competed in the online State Leadership Conference in March and had 8 students qualify for Nationals to be held online in June.<\/p>\n
Those advancing to Nationals, their events, and their places at state include:
\n\u2022 Broadcast Journalism: Leslie Espinoza, Megan Adams, and Elizabeth Lockett (2nd)
\n\u2022 Business Calculations: Miguel Segura (4th)
\n\u2022 Business Ethics: Mary Kait Heeren and Nevaeh Bardwell (4th)
\n\u2022 Marketing: Taryn Thurman and Nicholas Segovia (4th)<\/p>\n
National Alternates include:
\n\u2022 Intro to Business Procedures: Sophie Greco (5th)
\n\u2022 Intro to event Planning: Desirae Easley and Hope Powell (5th)<\/p>\n
Senior Faith Logan was named Who\u2019s Who for the Mount Pleasant High School chapter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a year filled with numerous challenges due to COVID-19 and virtual events, our FBLA students stepped up when it came to competition,\u201d said FBLA Advisor, John Whitten. \u201cI am very proud of the showing by our students and the hard work they put in to achieve success. With the eight qualifying for Nationals continues the success by past students, giving MPHS 46 national qualifiers over the past four years. Our students have worked hard to reach this point, and I\u2019m excited to see how they will do on the national level. Unfortunately, like area and state, national competition will be a virtual event. I am disappointed our students will miss out on the experience of going to Anaheim, but I know they will step up and do their best.\u201d<\/p>\n
