The Mount Pleasant boys and girls track teams wrapped up their regular season last Thursday with the final day of the two-day district meet. The Tigers and Lady Tigers had ten total athletes qualify for the area meet next week by finishing in the top four in their respective events. The boys team finished just short of a district championship by a slim four points, posting a team total of 119. Pine Tree finished just ahead of the Tigers with 121 points and Longview was crowned district champs with 123 points.<\/p>\n
Several Tiger athletes were named district champions. Gill Landaverde galloped around the track winning the 400m Dash and 800m Run. Landaverde posted a time of 52.57 in the quarter and a time of 2:03.96 in the two-lap race. Daniel Robles also secured two gold medals winning the 1600m Run and the 3200m Run. Robles completed the mile in 4:37.97 and finished the two-mile in 10:02.76. Astin Ledbetter took home the district crown in Discus tossing a district best 125’7″ and William Hills won the Triple Jump crown posting a jump of 45’9.25″. Zaveion Chism-Okoh won his second straight gold in High Jump leaping 6’1″ for the top spot.<\/p>\n
Other area qualifiers were Geovanni Calderon who ran a 4:46.92 in the mile and placed third in the two-mile with a time of 10:18.11. Skyler Guereca finished second in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 15.72, Xzavier Brown took third in Long Jump with a jump of 21’1.5″, and Xavier Hills finished third in Triple Jump at 43’8.5″. Ledbetter also advanced in the Shot-Put finishing third with a toss of 42’11”. On the Lady Tigers’ side, Aunesti Brannon was the lone qualifier posting at 16’11” jump in the Long Jump.<\/p>\n
Securing points for the Tigers and Lady Tigers are as follows: Gilberth Landaverde – 6th Place 800m Run (2:07.46), Johnathan Sandate – 5th Place 1600m Run (4:50.64), 6th Place 3200m Run (10:40.43), Miller McCrumby – 5th Place 110m Hurdles (16.55), Derrick Marshall – 5th Place 300m Hurdles (43.11), team of Gill Landaverde, Juan Retana, Gilberth Landaverde, and Derrick Marshall – 6th Place 4x400m Relay (3:40.49), Zane Phillips – 5th Place Pole Vault (11’0″), Jakybrein Hines – 6th Place Pole Vault (10’0″), team of Aaliyah Simms, Autumn Jackson, Gyselle Lozano, and Buendy Fraire – 6th Place 4x400m Relay (4:39.91), Ladi Guereca – 5th Place Long Jump (15’9.75″).<\/p>\n
