The state meet that was to be held in Galveston was cancelled due to COVID-19. But students in tested areas were able to complete their tests prior to Spring Break, and those in presentation events advanced based on their scores at the area meet.<\/p>\n<p>Those advancing to Nationals, their events, and their places at state include:<\/p>\n<p>Broadcast Journalism: Isabella Greco, Ryan Sharp and Taylor Hubbs (3rd)<br \/>\nFuture Business Leader: Chazlea Morris (3rd)<br \/>\nHealth Care Administration: Grace Whitten (2nd) and Natalie Howard (4th)<br \/>\nInsurance and Risk Management: Abby Mason (2nd)<br \/>\nJob Interview: Pearl Murillo (3rd)<br \/>\nJournalism: Baley O\u2019Neal (1st) and Nevaeh Bardwell (3rd)<br \/>\nMarketing: Kylie Hedge, Taryn Thurman and Nicholas Segovia (4th)<br \/>\nPublic Speaking: Beth Lockett (4th)<br \/>\nPublication Design: Jenifer Deciga, Dorali Hernandez and Joshlyn Paloblanco (4th)<br \/>\nSales Presentation: Tyler Welborn (3rd)<br \/>\nElectronic Career Portfolio: Rianna Jeffery (2nd)<\/p>\n<p>Another 14 students are alternates to Nationals, also a school record. Alternates include:<br \/>\nHealth Care Administration: Anna Elliott (6th)<br \/>\nHospitality Management: Daisy Ayala, Ashley Benyshek and Karla Rubio (7th)<br \/>\nInsurance and Risk Management: Jacqueline Juarez (5th) and Virginia Fuentes (6th)<br \/>\nIntro to Public Speaking: Rossy Banegas (6th)<br \/>\nPolitical Science: Caroline Rose (5th)<br \/>\nPSA: Tairelle Chong, Madison Adams, Megan Adams (6th)<br \/>\nSecurities and Investments: Shelby Courreges (6th)<br \/>\nSocial Media Campaign: Gaven Fife and Skylee Ford (5th)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am extremely proud of the showing of our FBLA students at our virtual State Leadership Conference,\u201d said head FBLA adviser, John Whitten. \u201cIt is such an unbelievable blessing and fantastic showing to have 19 qualify for Nationals and have 14 more alternates &#8212; both are school records. More than half of the students we had compete at state placed in the top seven. Even though students will miss out on the experience of going to Salt Lake City, they are still looking forward to competing on the Nationals level. I am proud of all the hard work, preparation and dedication that our students started putting in beginning in October.
