{"id":5280,"date":"2018-12-14T00:13:47","date_gmt":"2018-12-14T06:13:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/?p=5280"},"modified":"2018-12-14T00:13:47","modified_gmt":"2018-12-14T06:13:47","slug":"mphs-speech-and-debate-team-competes-at-ut-austin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/mphs-speech-and-debate-team-competes-at-ut-austin\/","title":{"rendered":"MPHS Speech and Debate Team Competes at UT Austin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mount Pleasant High School Speech and Debate team competed at the Longhorn Classic on The University of Texas at Austin campus on December 7-8.\u00a0 Senior Ja\u2019Quacy Minter was named a semifinalist in Oral Interpretation.\u00a0 He was one of the top 32 competitors out of 115 entries.\u00a0 He now has bids to compete at the Tournament of Champions in Kentucky and at the Nebraska National Individual Events Tournament of Champions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so lucky to have Ja\u2019Quacy in my program,\u201d said MPHS Speech and Debate Coach, Cody Morris. \u201cHe is the most uniquely talented individual I have ever coached. He has such an enormous talent for the performing arts and is an instrumental piece the to Mount Pleasant High School Speech and Debate team. He is one of the hardest working individuals I have and just an overall great student. He has become the most decorated performer in school history.
