{"id":4925,"date":"2018-09-18T09:59:47","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T14:59:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/?p=4925"},"modified":"2018-09-18T09:59:47","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T14:59:47","slug":"mphs-speech-and-debate-places-second-at-all-saints-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/mphs-speech-and-debate-places-second-at-all-saints-tourney\/","title":{"rendered":"MPHS Speech and Debate Places Second at All Saints Tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"post-content\">\n<p>The Mount Pleasant High School Speech and Debate team opened their season this past weekend at the All Saints Tournament in Tyler.\u00a0 The team placed 2nd as a whole out of 21 teams competing.<\/p>\n<p>Individually, the team of Connelly Cowan and Taryn Thurman placed 2nd in the Varsity CX Division and the team of Jacob Elliott and Preston Nguyen placed 5th in the Novice CX category.\u00a0 In Congressional Debate, Ryan Sharp placed 5th and Isabella Greco was a finalist out of over 60 competitors.\u00a0 Reid Pinckard placed 5th in Novice LD Debate.\u00a0 In Prose Interpretation, Sharp placed 1st and Jaquacy Minter placed 3rd.\u00a0 In Program of Oral Interpretation, Minter took 2nd place while Tripp Hinton placed 5th.\u00a0 Minter also placed 1st in Dramatic Interpretation, while Hinton took 4th in Humorous Interpretation and Sharp took 6th place in Extemporaneous Speaking out of over 50 competitors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis may have been our best tournament ever,\u201d said MPHS Speech and Debate Coach, Cody Morris. \u201cThe level of competition along with the number of schools made for a very tough go. The kids did amazing!
