{"id":4180,"date":"2018-01-31T11:41:40","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T17:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/?p=4180"},"modified":"2018-01-31T11:41:40","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T17:41:40","slug":"mphs-tennis-pair-brings-home-the-gold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mpisd.net\/mphs\/mphs-tennis-pair-brings-home-the-gold\/","title":{"rendered":"MPHS Tennis Pair Brings Home the Gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday the varsity tennis team traveled to Hallsville to compete in a tournament.\u00a0 There were 12 schools in attendance.\u00a0 In the mixed doubles A division Dakota Elswick and Jennifer Figueroa representing MPHS finished 1st place.\u00a0 They played Roberts\/Cooley from Henderson and beat them (8-0).\u00a0 Their next match was against district rivals Aguilar\/Hardaway from Greenville and MP came out on top (8-4).\u00a0 MP moved to the semifinals and had a tough match against Whitehouse.\u00a0 MP ended up defeating Whitehouse (9-7) and moved on to play Jacksonville.\u00a0 Mount Pleasant beat Jacksonville 8-3 to win Gold!<\/p>\n<p>In mixed doubles B division the team of Barron Newman and Averie Ayers representing MPHS finished just short of a medal.\u00a0 The pair played Shoe\/Soloman from Henderson and beat them (8-2).\u00a0 They defeated Greenville and moved on to the semifinals where they met up with Palestine.
