The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Academic Team traveled to the Hallsville Tournament of Hearts UIL Meet and three teams brought home first place honors. One team came away the 2nd place team.<\/p>\n

The Speech and Debate team of Aslin Barrientos, Dani Bernal, Audrey Courreges, Tripp Hinton, Nancy Ibarra, Anthony Preciado, Seth Robertson, Yaritza Romero and Caroline Rose took 1st place and brought home the Speech and Debate Sweepstakes Award.<\/p>\n

The Current Issues and Events team of Jacob Baker, Audrey Courreges. Enrique Martinez and Clarissa Santos placed 1st.\u00a0 The Spelling team of Rocio Hernandez, Annie Le, Ilse Vargas, Itzamari Vargas and Itzel Vargas took 1st place.<\/p>\n

The Social Studies team of Aner Baltazar, Tyreesha Douglas, Enrique Martinez and Clarissa Santos came away with 2nd place at the meet.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we didn\u2019t win 1st place overall our students still did an outstanding job,\u201d said MPHS UIL Director Regina Crouch. \u201cHallsville is always hard to beat at their own meet but we did outscore Sulphur Springs 248 to 145. Our students are working extra hard to prepare for their next meet in two weeks at Sulphur Springs. I am so proud of them for their continued commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n
